🖼️ How to Create Thumbnails for YouTube or IG Reels in minutes with ChatGPT

As a content creator, creating a thumbnail with a complex video editor or even AI is usually a struggle that leads me to waste a lot of time

So in today’s email, I’m going to show you a new way I’ve discovered to combine other thumbnails, text, and layouts in order to create your own thumbnails for YouTube videos and Instagram Reels.

As you may know, ChatGPT has some recent updates that allow you to upload files or images and generate AI images similar to them without giving any context. Using this feature is how we are going to create thumbnails today

First, I’ll go over how to turn on DALL-E 3 in ChatGPT Plus, as it’s not available to regular ChatGPT Users:

1. Open ChatGPT on your phone or on the web. Click on the GPT-4 tab at the top of the screen

2. Select “DALL-E 3(beta)” in the dropdown menu

Now that DALL-E 3 is actually turned on, let’s get to the directions:

1. Import photos of other thumbnails you’d like ChatGPT to replicate in style, color, or images. You can do this by a file of multiple or just one thumbnail

2. Copy and paste the prompt below into ChatGPT and fill in the variables I describe in the next section.

Variables to fill out:

1. [LAYOUT] - example: Portrait or Landscape (Youtube video or Instagram reels)

2. [INSERT CONTEXT] - example: content marketing in the world of TikTok and Instagram

3. [INSERT TEXT] - example: “How to double your TikTok ad revenue in the next 30 days”

Here is the prompt to use below:

Combine these thumbnail(s) of other videos to create a [LAYOUT] thumbnail for a video about [INSERT CONTEXT] and insert text in the top of the image saying [INSERT TEXT]

Now as ChatGPT is a form of generative AI, you can get a different response every time to the same prompt, so it may be a good idea to run it 3 or 4 times to see some different outputs before you choose the first option and run.

Here is an example from @ldjconfirmed of ChatGPT regenerating an image with AI for reference as to how to insert an image and prompt at the same time:
